One day, 9 AM – 5 PM, at Creative Bloc Studios in downtown Dimondale. $120 per seat covers everything — reserve online, pay at the door. Classes are small and fill by word of mouth.
What the day covers
The full state-required Michigan CPL course in one day, taught by Marlo Christian, a USPSA A-class competitor and Lansing Fire Department engineer and EMT.
Morning — the law, in plain English
Michigan pistol law, where you can and can't carry, use of force, and safe storage — taught straight, with real scenarios instead of legalese.
Afternoon — live fire, coached
Range time with an A-class competitor watching your grip, stance, and trigger. You shoot your qualification with coaching, not a stopwatch.
Before you leave — paperwork, handled
Certificate in hand and the county application walked through step by step, so the only thing left is the clerk's office and the wait.
Class questions
How long is the CPL class and what does it cost?
One day, 9 AM to 5 PM, $120 per seat. That covers the classroom portion (Michigan pistol law, use of force, safe storage), your coached live-fire qualification, your certificate, and a walkthrough of the county application.
Do I need my own pistol and ammunition?
Bring them if you have them. If you don't, get in touch before class and Marlo will sort you out. Plenty of people take the class before they own anything.
How do I pay for a class seat?
Reserve your seat online, then pay at the door on class day: $120 per seat, cash or card.
My CPL is up for renewal. Do I need to retake a class?
Renewal requirements are set by the state, so confirm yours with your county clerk. Many renewers book a private refresher anyway: an hour on grip, sight picture and trigger control is the fastest way to find out how much has slipped since your original class.
