Firearms Training for Security Teams, Lansing Area

Church safety teams, licensed security officers and protection staff carry for a reason other than themselves. Training for that job means fundamentals that hold up under stress and judgment that comes first.

Why train with a firefighter

Marlo Christian's day job is the Lansing Fire Department: an engineer and EMT whose career is making good decisions while things go wrong. He has seen what the aftermath of a bad decision looks like, which is why his training starts with judgment, not speed.

He is also a USPSA A-class competitor, so the shooting side holds up to scrutiny: grip, sight picture, trigger control and movement, coached by someone who is timed on them every weekend.

How team training works

Each team member books a private lesson online at a time that suits them. That keeps the coaching one-on-one, where every person's own habits get corrected, instead of one pace for the whole room.

Coordinating a group? Email Marlo with how many people and what the team is responsible for, and he'll help line the sessions up.

Security teams: questions

Can our whole safety team train together?

Training is booked as private lessons, one person per session, so each member gets individual coaching. To coordinate a group, email back2basicscpl@gmail.com with your headcount and he'll help schedule the sessions.

Do team members need a CPL first?

Private lessons don't require one. If a member still needs their license, the one-day Michigan CPL class covers the state-required course and the county paperwork.

How do I pay for a private lesson?

After you book, you get an order number and Venmo payment instructions. Send the payment to @Marlo-Christian with the order number in the note so it matches your booking.

Do I need my own pistol and ammunition?

Bring them if you have them. If you don't, get in touch before class and Marlo will sort you out. Plenty of people take the class before they own anything.

Other ways to train
