CPL Refresher Lessons for Renewing License Holders, Lansing Area

A CPL lasts years, and so does the gap since anyone last watched you shoot. Whether you're renewing or just haven't practiced, a one-on-one refresher resets the fundamentals.

About renewal requirements

What Michigan requires to renew a CPL is set by the state and handled by your county clerk, so confirm the current rules with them. A refresher lesson isn't a substitute for anything the state requires; it's for you.

What the refresher covers

Grip, stance, sight picture and trigger control: the same fundamentals the class started with, checked against how you actually shoot today. You leave with a short dry-fire routine so the next renewal doesn't find you in the same spot.

Thousands of licenses in the counties around Lansing have lapsed. If yours is one of them and you're coming back to it, this is the lesson to start with.

CPL refresher: questions

Is this the same as the CPL class?

No. The CPL class is the one-day state-required course for a new license. The refresher is a private lesson for people who already carry, or used to.

How do I pay for a private lesson?

After you book, you get an order number and Venmo payment instructions. Send the payment to @Marlo-Christian with the order number in the note so it matches your booking.

Do I need my own pistol and ammunition?

Bring them if you have them. If you don't, get in touch before class and Marlo will sort you out. Plenty of people take the class before they own anything.

Other ways to train

Need your license first? The one-day Michigan CPL class covers the state-required course. Shooters come from towns across the Lansing area.

Renewing license holders drive in from farther out too: Hastings (Barry County), Owosso (Shiawassee County), Howell (Livingston County).
